I grew up in a religion where we didn't celebrate holidays. I'm no longer living that life style, and haven't been for a few years now. But a few years is all I have had of celebrating Birthdays, Thanksgivings, Easters, Halloweens, and Christmases. Missing out on these only makes me appreciate them so much more though. Now that it's September, my favorite parts of the year are just around the corner. The date on the calender and Breanna's post really got me hyped up about this time of year. Wondering what my favorite parts of this time exactly are, and why they're my favorite? Well read on, my friend.
Husband's Birthday // My favorite time of the year kicks off with my best friend and soul mate becoming another year older. Who doesn't love a good reason to celebrate and spoil someone they love? We are days away from my love being able to have some wine (or something crazier) with me when we go out. So excited!
My Birthday // October is close, too! I'm closer to being another year older, 22 to be exact. I feel kind of old saying that (you have permission to curse at me for saying that if you're older than me haha). It's just so interesting how life seems to speed up as you get older. I don't feel like I'm supposed to be turning 22 yet. I cannot wait to celebrate and get spoiled myself though! (Who doesn't love that?) I should probably also add that my beautiful mother's birthday is in this lovely month as well. Hi Mom, haha.
Fall // The time where you can start to bundle up as the weather gets colder. Time for scarves, leggings, sweaters, beanies and boots. Time to sit at a coffee shop drinking that pumpkin spice late and watching the colorful leaves fall off the trees around you. It makes me happy just simply thinking about what is ahead.
Pumpkin This, Pumpkin That // I'm a pumpkin lover. Pumpkin pie. Pumpkin spice late's. Pumpkin carving. Pumpkin patches. Pumpkin bread. Pumpkin rolls. Pumpkin candles. The smells, the tastes, the decorations. They're all around us and they're probably the only orange colored thing that I really enjoy.
Halloween // Scary movie time! I easily get fired-up about scary things. You can find me in the movie theater anxious to watch something creepy on the big screen while I hide behind my pop corn tub, peeking around the side of it. The only thing that would make me happier about this time of year, is having trick-or-treaters. Now that the husband and I live in our own place, it's super exciting to answer the door and toss a big pile of candy into a little kids pumpkin pail. Sadly though, we live on the side of base where there are fewer children, and trick-or-treating is done in the neighborhoods where there are more kids. Hopefully when we move this will be different.
Thanksgiving // I love having some of my family get together for a few days. Helping cook a delicious feast, and sitting down at a table to eat a meal with your loved ones. My favorite thing to do is go around the table and have everyone share something that they are thankful for.
Black Friday // Yes, I made this it's own little bolded section. I'm a huge sucker for a good sale, and this day is full of them! The time of year that I save money to get things that we need for the house, us, and of course Christmas presents. The only upsetting part of this crazy day is that every year they're moving it more and more into Thanksgiving day. You have your own day Black Friday, stop being so greedy!
Christmas // Ah, the final family filled heart warming holiday. Peppermint mocha's, Santa shaped cookies, goody-filled stockings, Christmas lights, and good quality time with family. The one time of year I get to see most of my family all at once. It's so much fun visiting with everyone, opening presents, and of course watching people open the presents that you got them! It's a very special time of year.
What's your favorite time of year?
