Hohenschwangau & Neuschwanstein Castles

King Ludwig the second was the king of Bavaria, Germany. He grew up with his family in the Hohenschwangau Castle, which is the first castle pictured below. Hohenschwangau is a 19th century palace built by his father, King Maximilian II. Both castles are available to tour in all parts of the year. We visited these castles in March of 2015. We were able to tour the inside of Hohenschwangau, but sadly did not have enough time to tour the inside of Neuschwanstein, the second castle pictured (and also the picture behind the title). No worries though! We bought a seasonal castle pass and can go back to see the inside of that one!

The view from the Neuschwanstein Castle.

The Neuschwanstein Castle is a famously known castle built by King Ludwig. You probably have heard of it, if not, I am sure you have heard of Walt Disney's Cinderella and her castle? Disney himself fell in love with the Neuschwanstein Castle and decided to base Cinderella's castle off of it. This is probably the reason why I love this castle so much.

It's a jaw dropper isn't it?
