How He Proposed

(A picture from our engagement pictures)

I don't think that I have actually talked about the story of our proposal. I mean I know I have our "Love Stories" posted on here, but that only includes a little part of the proposal story. So for those of you that are craving a cute little story...

July 2012
The plane finally landed. Going to Hawaii was fun, I'm not regretting that at all. And honestly I didn't have a choice. I was the maid of honor so not going to Hawaii may have been a bad idea. The plane ride though...ugh. Five and a half hours stuck in a seat, bored, with my grandparents. Anxious to see my boyfriend who was already in our home town back on leave from the Army. Normally I was the one who picked him up from the bus station, and I got to see him first. Someone else had to pick him up and he was out doing whatever his first day back. I wanted to spend every day I could with him and I have already missed his first day back home. This sucks. We found the limo that my mom and my new step dad had scheduled to pick us up and take us all back home. I was frantically calling Hubs to let him know I was about an hour away from home and to get to my house so he was there when I got home. No answer. Call again, no answer. Text, no answer. I was started to get disappointed, and annoyed. I just sat there. An extra hour with my grandparents. An extra hour of just sitting there, waiting.

We finally arrived at my house, where I quickly ran to the door, unlocked it, and ran upstairs to my room. In the process I could hear music. Is he home? I went into my bedroom to see him asleep. Passed out on my bed. I jumped on him and woke him up. Just about in tears, I was so happy to see him. We spent our summer vacation together. He had a few weeks. I had a few weeks more. We made the best of it though. We hung out with friends, and family. We went to the movies, and out on dinner dates. We went miniature golfing and bowling. The two of us had a fun summer of going out and spending the whole time together, not wasting a bit of it.

July 4th 2012
The fourth of July had arrived and we were ecstatic to watch the fireworks. At least I was, I love fireworks. In the morning Hubs had told me he wants me to dress nice and curl my hair. Let's get dressed up today. Being a girl, psh why wouldn't I want to? I didn't think anything of it. I curled my hair, put a cute lace top on and some shorts, and we headed out for the day. We went out to lunch, and then towards the afternoon we decided to take a blanket and go save us a spot to watch the fireworks. If we went early, we could get the spot that we wanted. We parked across the street and put our blanket on some grass. Sitting, talking and waiting for the big event. Hubs's Dad, and sister had showed up and we decided to go over and sit with them. All of us visited and goofed around as we waited for the night sky to arrive and the fireworks to begin.

(This picture was right before the fireworks begun)

The fireworks were going to start any second now. Hubs looked at me and said he was going to put some stuff in the car and asked if I wanted him to take my sunglasses since they weren't needed anymore. I didn't know, but that smart one was using that as an excuse to go get a tiny box from under the seat in the car. A few minutes went by and the fireworks had started. I turned around to look for him and saw him doing something in the backseat of his dad's truck. I walked over there wondering what the heck he was doing. He frantically stopped and came over to me saying nothing. He stood behind me with his arms around me as we watched the show. I could feel that he was nervous. I began to get suspicious but didn't want to say anything in fear of ruining the moment. He went over to his sister when it was close to the finale and asked her to video tape the finale with his phone and what was going to happen after it. She threw a fit saying "film it yourself, it's your phone." Hubs was getting frustrated at how difficult this was getting. He said "Trust me. You want to film it. Please." By this time I was shaking. Nervous. He didn't know I had heard what he just said. I had a feeling of what was going to happen. The fireworks ended and he turned me around to face him...

I was so shocked. I don't even remember what I said. I mean, I knew I said yes, but Hubs said I said it like four times haha. I knew this day was going to happen eventually for us, but I was still so shocked when it happened. I was shaking and had a smile I couldn't wipe off my face. We headed off to the car where I called my Mom right away. I talked to her and told her what happened while staring at my ring. I couldn't wait to tell everyone.
